Agreement and service scope

Using Free-OCR.net means using a temporary OCR service under these rules.

By uploading a file, creating an account, saving an export, or using a result-sharing feature, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Free-OCR.net provides automated document recognition, editable and structured exports, review controls, and educational material. It is not a records archive, identity verification service, professional adviser, or substitute for checking an original document.

Your uploads and acceptable use

You are responsible for having the right to submit every file.

You must

  • Have the rights, consent, or authority needed to process the document
  • Follow laws, contracts, workplace rules, and professional duties that apply
  • Use accurate contact and account information when an account is created
  • Protect owner URLs, review links, and account credentials

You must not

  • Upload malware or content intended to damage or probe the service
  • Use OCR for credential theft, unlawful surveillance, harassment, or infringement
  • Process private data you are not authorized to access
  • Evade file, page, request, rate, or access limits
  • Automate requests in a way that disrupts availability

OCR output and your review responsibility

Recognized text can be plausible and still be wrong.

OCR may omit content, confuse similar characters, alter punctuation, join columns, split words, lose handwriting, misread mathematical notation, or reconstruct reading order incorrectly. Confidence values and structured diagnostics are review aids, not a guarantee that a word or field is accurate.

Compare consequential output with the source before relying on names, dates, totals, account numbers, addresses, legal clauses, medical information, instructions, or identifiers. Do not use an OCR result as the sole basis for a high-impact decision.

Accounts, temporary storage, and sharing

Keep your own source and download anything you need before expiry.

Public OCR includes two files without an account. A free account is required for additional OCR files. Guest exports expire locally after 60 minutes. Optional account copies remain for 30 days or until deletion. These windows may change to protect reliability, capacity, or security.

A share URL grants access according to the permissions and expiry attached to it. You are responsible for choosing recipients and channels carefully. Free-OCR.net may disable links or accounts used for abuse, unlawful access, or attempts to bypass controls.

Remote processing creates a processor copy governed by the provider's terms. The privacy policy and security page explain this boundary.

Availability, limits, and liability

The service is provided as available and may change or stop.

Service limits

Supported formats, upload size, page count, processing time, retry behavior, output formats, storage, and rate limits may be changed or enforced to operate the service safely.

No uninterrupted operation

Recognition may fail because of a file, dependency, processor, network, capacity, maintenance, or security event. Keep the source and be prepared to retry.

No fitness promise

The service is provided without a promise that output will be complete, error-free, available at a particular time, or suitable for a particular downstream use.

Your backup remains primary

Temporary results and account copies are conveniences, not archives. Loss, expiry, or corruption of an export must not be your only copy of important information.

Changes, suspension, and ending use

Terms and access may change when the product, law, risk, or operating model changes.

Material revisions should be reflected on this page with an updated reviewed date. Continuing to use the service after a revised version becomes effective means accepting the revised terms.

Free-OCR.net may suspend a request, link, account, or feature to investigate abuse, protect users or infrastructure, comply with a valid obligation, or discontinue the service. You may stop using public OCR at any time and may delete saved account exports before their automatic expiry.
